SPIRULINA BARS

Posted by Carolyn Lees on

These are a wonderful treat to celebrate International Raw Food Day. Not only are they a lovely sweet but also packed with protein and full of iron. You can make them any shape you like. I like them in bar shapes or balls or cut with a heart shaped cookie cutter. Roll them in either hemp seeds or desiccated coconut. They will be quite soft when you first make them but once placed in the fridge for a few hours will firm up. You can then cut up in small slices if serving them for an afternoon tea. Hope you enjoy these sweet treat delights and celebrate all things wonderful about living raw food.

1 cup soaked almonds

½ cup soaked cashews

½ cup soaked dates

½ cup figs

3 tsp Spirulina powder

¼ cup hemp seeds of ½ cup desiccated coconut for rolling

In a food processor or blender process the rinsed nuts until very fine. Chop the dates roughly reserving a little of the water. Cut the figs finely and remove the middle stem. Place the dates, figs and Spirulina in the processor or blender with the chopped nuts and pulse until all combined. If the mixture is dry add 3 tsp of the date water. Shape the mixture into whatever shape you like and roll in the hemp seeds or desiccated coconut or both.

Hi I’m Veet

I began Veet’s Cuisine on the 19 May 2008. Since that date I have been blown away by the immense creativity that flows through me into the food that I prepare for retreats, weddings, celebrations and events.

My love and passion for high quality food mixed in with my knowledge of wholesome, healthy, vegetarian fare as well as my taste buds desiring only the most heavenly of experiences, makes a wonderful recipe for fabulous meals and food every time. The team that works with me all have bubbly personalities and enjoy working in the kitchen at Veet’s Cuisine. The energy created around preparing food at Veet’s Cuisine adds to the overall experience and service is always with a genuine smile.

My number one love is sustaining good health in a delicious way, second love is people and the third is my surroundings. These three things all come together in the most divine way when Veet’s Cuisine is catering at retreats, weddings, celebrations and events.
